Community Histories Project:
Preserving the Past, One Community at a Time
This project is sponsored and conducted by the
Transylvania County Historical Society.
The Transylvania County Historical Society began the Community Workshop Project in April 2002, with a workshop on the Folly Gap Area.  The goal of this project is to conduct workshops on small communities thoughout Transylvania County.  In these workshops, we will explore the unique history of each communty and the families that shaped it.  Information researched and gathered at these workshops will then be put into book form and donated to libraries in and around the area.  Copies will also be available for purchase by anyone interested.

In March of 2003, the Community Histories Project Workshop focused on the Town Of Rosman. The interest in this workshop was great, and many people participated by providing family histories, photographs, and other historically relevant items.  The publication,
A History of...Estatoe Ford, Jeptha, Toxaway, Eastatoe...Rosman, North Carolina is available at the Allison-Deaver House Museum Store.  The cost is $25 for the 184 page book that includes information on over 70 families, 40 pages of photographs and a history of the town of Rosman.

If you do not live locally, and would like to purchase either book, please click the title below for an order form.
